Handicap System

The A1–A20 scale, evaluation period, rolling 10-tournament review, and match calculator.

How the handicap works

Evaluation period. A new player's first 5 eligible non-practice tournaments are an evaluation period. During this window, an authorized host or admin may adjust a starting handicap when performance clearly warrants it. Every change is logged.

Rolling 10-tournament review. After the evaluation period, the platform reviews the player's most recent 10 eligible tournaments. The window rolls forward automatically after every new tournament.

Promotion Review triggers when qualifying finishes exceed 41% of the window. Qualifying = top 3 (in fields up to 19 players) or top 4 (in fields of 20+).

Demotion Review triggers when qualifying finishes fall below 20%. Both reviews are recommendations — an admin approves, postpones, keeps, or marks for manual review before any change is published.

Practice tournaments do not count unless admin rules are changed.
